John Chapman, aka Johnny Appleseed, is an interesting historical character. It is said that he was a missionary and nurseryman planting apple seeds wherever he went! He recently popped into my head while having a conversation about sowing seeds. We were discussing how we all have the ability as God supplies us seed to sow wherever we go! We can make a difference! I think of multitudes of Billy Grahams and Reinhard Bonnkes who have relentlessly sowed God's word over their lifetimes. And yet, the work does not stop! This is just like a farmer who has a field to plant. He does not sow seeds in his field one year and call it a day! He continues yearly to work the land by plowing, planting and watering. The seeds come to fruition and produce. The next season comes along and the cycle continues. This is such a great example for us to follow. And like Johnny Appleseed, we sow seeds wherever the Lord takes us! Like all those seed sowers who have gone before us, we may never see the final results until the harvest is revealed in Heaven! Some plant, some water but God gives the increase! Let us continue to plant those seeds!!!
"Now, He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply
your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness;" 2 Corinthians 9:10
