Are You Listening?

I was driving to Weslaco, Texas to do dog duty, as a friend of mine had gone out of town and needed someone to feed their dogs while they were away.  As I was exiting the ramp I felt the Lord say to me, “Go to ________,” which is a particular restaurant in Weslaco.  I thought, “That’s the Lord speaking to me.  I need to go to that restaurant.”  I quickly finished the dog duty and headed out to the restaurant. 

The only God Stories book I had with me was Women of God.  I thought, “Lord, please let there be a lady waitress at this restaurant.”  Sure enough there was! 

I placed my order and asked if she would like the God Stories book?  I explained it was stories about ordinary people where God had done great things in their lives.  She was quite interested and said she would like the book.  She also said that this was the second time something like this had happened to her recently.  She said last week a man came in and felt led to give her a cross.  I told her that God obviously wanted to get her attention.  I got her name and said I would be praying for her.

When she came back later with my food, she said, “Can I ask you something?”  “Sure,” I replied.  “Would you pray for my mom also?  She has liver cancer and they just found a one-inch growth on her liver.  She has other people praying for her too, but, you know, the more prayers the better.”  I got her mother’s name and assured her that I would be praying for them both.  She seemed relieved and happy.

I will go back to that restaurant so I can follow up with the young waitress and ask about her mom.

What’s the cost of  a meal in relation to eternity? 

So, if we are LISTENING to the Lord, because His sheep hear His voice, we will go where He tells us, because He knows who needs a touch from Him.   

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27
