I find myself continually praying, “Lord, reveal Yourself to these people!”
I wanted to spread God’s love to others on Valentine’s Day by giving out gift bags that contained goodies and GOD STORIES booklets which have true and inspiring stories written by ordinary people that highlight an extraordinary God and what He has done in, for, and through their lives. This great gospel tool brings encouragement, inspiration and hope to the reader and reminds them of the depth of God’s love and the importance of knowing Him intimately. And most importantly, I know that the Holy Spirit will work in the hearts of those who receive and read them.
So, I knew what I wanted to do, and where to deliver the gift bags. However, I did not have the time to make them, nor did I have the correct supplies. Buying the correct size cellophane bags was difficult; they were all the same size wherever I went. The booklets barely fit into them. I knew I had to deliver everything by the 14th, but I was running out of time.
Thursday morning, February 13th, my heart was at peace but I still hadn't done much. I had been praying for creativity and guidance, knowing the Lord would provide...He did. My sister, Nell, is the creative one in the family, besides my mother, and she "happened" to have some bags for the booklets, Valentine zip lock bags for the cookies, scissors, tape, glue gun, and everything we needed. We started putting the bags together around 1:30 pm and finished by 9 pm. We made 40 bags.
Delivery started at 12 pm the next day on Valentine's Day at the Olmito Dentist, Olmito, Texas. I then proceeded to several small businesses (coffee shops, restaurant, beauty shop, cleaners, etc.) on Palm Blvd. and Jefferson Street in Brownsville, Texas. It was so encouraging to see the businesses and their workers receiving their bags with gratitude and joy! It was amazing! As a result, my heart continually cries out, “Lord reveal Yourself to these people!”
