Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-10, 2024) is a time to honor the contributions of educators who guide and inspire students. One way we can do so is by lifting up educators worldwide in prayer.
Educators play such an important role in the lives of children. They have been given a great responsibility of nurturing, training, and educating students who have been assigned to them. In this respect, I too have the privilege to play a part of this great commission, being that I am a teacher, myself. I know the stresses we all go through; it is all for the glory of God. I trust that this prayer will enable every leader or mentor of children to continue on their journey of making a positive difference in their lives.
My dear Heavenly Father,
My prayer is for teachers, all over the world, who have chosen this profession and taken on the responsibility of educating children. We have been given a great task of shaping the minds of youngsters. Help us to see each child as you do, Lord. You told the disciples who were disgruntled in Matthew 19:14, “let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” It is evident in this verse that He was compassionate for children. Teach us to share this beautiful sentiment, as well, dear Lord.
I ask that you quicken every heart and give us Godly wisdom to know the condition of our flock. Remind us of the importance to pray for every student before arriving to our workplace. Let it become an unction in our innermost being to call upon the name of the Lord to strengthen us in this special privilege. Help us to love them unconditionally and give us insight as to the condition of their hearts. To be quick to lift up their worries and concerns.
Just as Jesus asked Peter in John 21:15-17, three times, how much do you love me? He said “Feed my lambs” then a second time he stated “Take care of my sheep”. Thirdly, he again says “feed my sheep”. Do you see our Masters heart for His flock, his children, our students?
Beloved teachers, the classroom is our mission field. "Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we DO NOT GIVE UP.” Galatians 6:9
In the precious name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
