A Difficult Day?

Updated: Apr 14

“Are you okay? You’ve been very quiet today. Is everything alright?” my husband asked.

Softly, I replied, “Gayle, my silence is due to me inwardly talking with the Lord regarding the extremely Difficult Day we both experienced recently.  I know the Lord wants to reveal something to me. Therefore, I want to hear/know what He wants…His purpose…His solution.”  My precious husband’s non-verbal “I’m here for you” reaction was similar to Piglet’s towards Pooh in the following story by A.A. Milne:

"Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh.

There was a pause.

"Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet.

"No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do."

"That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend.

"What are you doing?" asked Pooh.

"Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either."

"But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh."

And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right."

Maybe you’re having a “Difficult Day” today, too.  And maybe you have your own Piglet to sit beside you while you seek the Lord’s direction and guidance to reveal what He wants…His purpose…His solution. In Psalm 32:8 "The LORD says, 'I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.'"
